EXECUTIVE

“Helping others is a personal goal of mine.”

Who is Winnie

“Hi! My name is Winnie, I am a Corporate Services officer and I have been working in CPH for two years, since 2019. I work mainly within the domains of Human Resources. An interesting fact about me is that I love to eat! I love desserts especially because it makes people happy. Desserts are always plated so nicely and tastes amazing, it feels like heaven!”

A familiar face at CPH, Winnie is a part of the Corporate Services department and can often be seen around the office offering help to anyone that needs it. Although modest, Winnie is a cordial individual whose name regularly pops up in the minds of the employees within CPH when they require assistance on just about anything related to corporate activities or the office.

Winnie in CPH

Winnie forms a crucial part of the Corporate Service team in CPH. Perhaps playing one of the most important roles in CPH, Winnie is heavily involved with Human Resources where she executes responsibilities such as the deployment of psychologists to the various Social Service agencies CPH partners with and the management of the payroll for employees CPH employs. Winnie’s role in CPH ensures that employees are cared for in terms of their needs and wants, truly fuelling and gluing the operations together within CPH. Besides, Winnie also takes on other responsibilities that is not psychology or research related along with the rest of the Corporate Services team.

Winnie’s journey to CPH started when her job coach applied for the position as she was seeking for a change in scenery, and has never looked back since. Winnie revealed that her time in CPH has been fulfilling where she is always given the opportunity to pursue her interests, and her role is an ever-evolving one which repels stagnation in career and personal growth. The culture at CPH is also another factor that motivates Winnie to continue in her role, and makes her look forward to another day in the office. “There’s a lot to learn here and I’m given the opportunity to try my hand out at other things. This keeps me interested as the work isn’t so boring (laughs). The people here are very friendly and accepting too, you can joke with them and have good talks.”

Humanitarian in CPH

“One of my personal goals is to help people.”

Winnie’s time in CPH does not just equate to corporate work, the work that is expected for the typical 9-5. As with other colleagues within the Corporate Services team, Winnie was offered the opportunity to volunteer with one of CPH’s Social Service agency partners to gain a better insight on activities occurring on the ‘ground’, where fellow colleagues in the psychology and research departments execute their work to change the lives of those in the community. Winnie then accepted the offer to volunteer, setting out for new experiences and seeking knowledge.

Subsequently, Winnie started her volunteering journey with SPD, a local charity in Singapore that assists everyone, regardless of demographic, to expand the possibilities available to them and integrate them back into the society. As an individual with an acquired disability, Winnie decided on volunteering at SPD as she wanted to give back, similar to a tribute, to the community which has helped her in her journey. Winnie shared that in her volunteering role, she would help clients who acquired disabilities to adapt to the new changes by giving them advice on how to navigate (literally), through life using their new wheelchairs as she is also wheelchair-bound. In return, the clients often shared their stories and experiences with Winnie, which she took great honour in, feeling touched that the community would be willing to share with her their experiences, experiences that are generally sacred to the individual. Winnie shared that her experience volunteering has been nothing short of inspirational, as she managed to meet such intriguing and inspiring individuals who found light in darkness, people who lit up the world despite the circumstance. “Even though the conditions, some of the clients are still so content and cheerful. That is something I would love to learn from them.”

A Valuable Exchange

In Winnie’s two years within CPH, CPH has offered her a place to grow, develop and explore her passions whilst Winnie offers CPH her skillset and capabilities; along with a spirited individual of an electric mind who continues to push and contribute to CPH’s vibrant culture and buoyant journey in the social service sector.

“CPH has helped me to develop and explore my passions. An organisation that truly cares.”
