Research officer

Overview

The Community Psychology Hub (CPH) provides psychological and research services to different stakeholders in the social service sector, community and government. CPH is dedicated to improving people’s lives through innovative and quality psychological services. Our researchers specialize in policy, assessment and intervention research for people with diverse needs (disabilities/vulnerabilities) using implementation, evaluation, measurement, and data sciences. As a Research Officer within CPH, you will be working closely with your supervisor and a team of researchers in conducting the various research activities involved in the project.

 

Responsibilities

1. Participate in the entire research cycle of the project

  • Conduct literature review

  • Plan and implement measures to investigate the research questions

  • Data collection, data management, analyses (incl. interpretations and explanations), etc

2. Translate project results to policies/programmes

  • Draft, prepare and present written reports or presentations to funders and stakeholders

3. Provide and share research training & consultancy internally and externally

  • Share learning from attending courses related to your work (e.g., statistics/research)

  • Engage in peer support and knowledge sharing to other team members

4. Other responsibilities 

  • Attend CPH meetings and events when necessary

  • Draft, prepare and submit reports or other deliverables as required promptly

  • Build and maintain good rapports with internal and external stakeholders

  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by Reporting Officer/Leadership Team

5. Professional development

  • Attend CPH endorsed training/workshops/seminars so as to develop relevant knowledge and skills

Requirements

1. Educational qualifications

  • A recognised Bachelor (with Honours) in Psychology or Statistics

2. Knowledge and experience

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in carrying out research projects

  • Familiarity in implementation, evaluation, measurement, and data sciences

  • Knowledge of Microsoft office (e.g., Advanced Excel) and statistical programmes (e.g., SPSS, R)

  • Experience with online survey administration platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, FormSG) will be an advantage

  • Experience with facilitation of focus group discussion will be an advantage  

3. Other qualities  

  • Strong interest in community research for vulnerable populations

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong administration, planning, time-management, interpersonal and organisational skills

Research Associate, Research Psychologist (Early intervention)

Overview

You will be responsible for assisting the Principal Investigator (PI) at the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) in planning and overseeing the evaluation of Early Intervention (EI) programmes. You will be expected to provide high-level inputs to the projects and be involved in leading and managing various aspects of the evaluation. Duties of selected candidates include, but not limited to, reviewing the literature, conceptualising research agendas, preparing research materials for data collection, administering psychological assessments, managing data (e.g., data entry/coding/cleaning/wrangling, etc.), analysing data using appropriate statistical tools/approach, writing reports, preparing presentations, managing relationship and communication with all stakeholders, and communicating research findings to stakeholders involved in the research/project.

 

Responsibilities

1. Overall Project Management

  • Oversee, lead, and supervise research assistants

  • Manage the execution of the project according to plan (i.e., adjust for changes, identify and mitigate potential risks)

  • Draft and prepare documents for clearance

2. Overall data management, data analyses, and dissemination of research findings

  • Conduct literature review, monitor implementation of project, and perform data collection, management, analyses (with interpretations and explanations), etc

  • Lead in data collection, clarification and analyses

  • Lead in preparing, translating project results to policies and programmes for stakeholders

  • Present written reports or presentations to funders and stakeholders

  • Draft and prepare manuscripts, abstracts and presentation for publications, conferences, funders and stakeholders

3. Other responsibilities and secretariat duties 

  • Minutes taking during meetings and timely sharing with team members

  • Liaise with funders, stakeholders, collaborators and participating partners to establish good working relationship

  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by Reporting Officer and Leadership

4. Professional development

  • Attend and assist with group meetings, chair and/or present at the meetings when necessary

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of SSA activities as assigned

  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by Reporting Officer or Leadership

  • Attend CPH meetings and events when necessary

  • Prepare and submit reports e.g., monthly KPI tracking as required

5. Self-development

  • Attend CPH/SSA endorsed training/workshops/seminars so as to develop relevant knowledge and skills

Requirements

1. Educational qualifications

  • A recognised Masters degree in Psychology or related research

2. Knowledge and experience

  • (Preferred) Experience in clinical settings and/or working with/in SSAs will be an advantage

  • 3 or more years of relevant large scale research experience with at least 2 years of relevant experience in leading a team of researchers

  • Extensive research experiences in using implementation, evaluation, measurement and data sciences to support research projects

  • Knowledge of Microsoft office (e.g., Advanced Excel) and statistical programmes (e.g., SPSS, AMOS, R)

3. Other qualities

  • Strong interest in early childhood, early intervention research

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong administration, planning, time-management, interpersonal and organisational skills
