Senior Psychologist (ADULT DISABILITY)
Overview
This position is for the role of a senior psychologist working with adults with developmental disabilities and other special needs in the Adult Disability setting (i.e., Day Activity Centre, Sheltered Workshop or Residential Home, Enabling Service or Business Hubs and Community-based intervention services). This role aims to (1) provide psychological services to individual clients presenting with behavioural issues and/ or mental health concerns, and consultation to the staff and caregivers who support them, and (2) provide consultancy and psychological services for the Assisted Deputyship Application Programme (ADAP) for adult clients in Special Education schools or Adult Disability centres and homes.
Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will be to carry out the following activities under supervision:
1. Conduct Psychological Assessments
Conduct psychological assessments to formulate evidence-based and data-driven hypotheses for challenging cases including those with medico-legal and forensic implications
Manage and prepare assessment reports for challenging cases
Identify gaps in assessment tools in relation to application in local contexts and determine possible contextualisations
Deliver case presentations during multi-disciplinary team meetings
Conduct mental capacity assessments (MCA) for clients in Special Education (SpEd) schools or Adult Disability centres and homes using the mandated psychological report/MCA forms, which is accepted in place of a formal medical assessment
2. Deliver Interventions
Formulate evidence-based and data-driven intervention plans in collaboration with relevant parties for challenging cases
Deliver psychological programmes and services. This may include:
Guide staff and parents/caregivers in implementing emotional, learning and behavioural evidence-based interventions, customised to the needs of the individual
Maintain timely and accurate records of clients and regular contact with the client’s family when required
Provide individual intervention for clients and/ or their caregivers as necessitated
Adapt existing interventions for application in local context based on research and trends
3. Build stakeholder relationships or capacity
Provide psychological expertise to other specialised departments and relevant professionals
Collaborate with social and healthcare sector professionals to deliver and improve client care and services
Support the process of implementing the ADAP across selected SpEd schools or Adult Disability centres and homes. This will include professional consultations with the schools, centres, MSF and CPH
Provide evidence-based input for program/policy improvements
Provide professional consultation services at inter-disciplinary case discussions
5. ADAP Training and Supervision
Organise/Facilitate ADAP case consultations/conferences
Conduct and/or support training for other psychologists conducting the MCA
For more experienced psychologist with the requisite criteria, to provide onsite one-to-one clinical supervision and group supervision
Vet and sign off, when necessary, reports prepared by other psychologists
5. Uplift professional practice in psychology
Provide mentorship, and/or supervision and/or leadership to associate psychologists and/or entry-level CPH psychologists
Assist in the delivery of training (clinical seminars, clinical workshops) for psychologists and/or other professionals in the social service sector
Present, facilitate and participate in CPH Case Discussions for knowledge-sharing and to hone clinical skills
Assist in development of quality improvement projects to improve client care and services, to move beyond pure custodial care model
Attain SRP Supervisor status or its equivalent (within first two years of appointment as Senior Psychologist)
6. Administrative duties
Provide administrative duties relevant to clinical practices and activities as required of the SSA
Attend CPH meetings and events when necessary
Prepare and submit monthly reports, i.e., monthly KPI tracking as required
Carry out any other duties as assigned by reporting officer or Management
7. Self-development
Attend CPH/SSA endorsed training/workshops/seminars so as to develop relevant knowledge and skills
Receive formal supervision from CPH’s approved supervisors as part of professional development
Requirements
1. Educational qualifications
A recognised masters’ degree in Applied Psychology (e.g., Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Educational Psychology) from an accredited university. The programme must include a supervised practicum and supervised training in psychological assessments
Be eligible for registration with the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS) (Full Membership) and Singapore register of Psychologists (SRP) registration
2. Experience
Relevant experience working with either children or adults with developmental disabilities and/ or providing psychological services in similar settings (i.e., SPED, social services sector) will be an advantage
Experience in administering psychoeducational assessment tools and providing intervention based on Positive Behaviour Support is preferable.
3. Other qualities
Self-motivated with strong oral and written communication skills
Able to work independently and collaboratively in multi-disciplinary team
Exceptional planning and organizational skills
Fluency in local languages and familiarity with the local context will be an advantage
Psychologist (ADULT DISABILITY)
Overview
This full-time position is for the role of a psychologist working with adults with developmental disabilities and other special needs in the Adult Disability setting (i.e., Day Activity Centre, Sheltered Workshop or Residential Home). This role aims to provide psychological services to individual clients presenting with behavioural issues and/ or mental health concerns, and professional consultation to the staff and caregivers who support our clients. You will be working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team within the social service agency (SSA).
Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will be to carry out the following activities under supervision:
1. Conduct Psychological Assessments
Conduct various psychological assessments to facilitate vocational, educational and other placements
Conduct various psychological assessments as part of routine implementation and progress monitoring
Prepare assessment reports
2. Deliver Interventions
Provide holistic frontline support as part of the multi-disciplinary/ transdisciplinary team to support individuals with complex needs and their families
Participate in transition-planning, case management, routine care-planning and meetings as part of the multi-disciplinary team
Working with SSA staff, allied health professionals and caregivers to better support needs through professional consultation and case discussions
3. Build stakeholder relationships or capacity
Design and implement programmes and interventions catered to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs, inclusive of Positive Behaviour Support and other systemic supports
Create and support training to help equip staff and caregivers in relevant areas for supporting clients in SSA and community settings.
4. Uplift professional practice in psychology
Provide consultation to other allied health professionals
Participate, facilitate and present in CPH professional development platforms for knowledge-sharing and enhancement of professional skills
5. Administrative duties
