ASSOCIATE PSYCHOLOGIST / Psychologist – Adult Disability

This position is for the role of an associate psychologist or psychologist working with adults with developmental disabilities and other special needs in the Adult Disability setting (i.e., Day Activity Centre, Sheltered Workshop or Residential Home). This role aims to provide psychological services to individual clients presenting with behavioural issues and/ or mental health concerns, and vis-a-via consultancy and training to the staff and caregivers who support our clients. Specifically, this role is part of a pilot project looking at redefining programmes within the Adult Disability setting to create a continuum of service across the lifespan. You will be working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team within the social service agency (SSA). 

Responsibilities 

1. Conduct Psychological Assessments

  • Conduct specific psychological assessments, to facilitate vocational, educational and other placements 

  • Conduct initial/intake assessment alongside the multi-disciplinary team as part of routine implementation and progress monitoring  

  • Prepare assessment reports  

2. Deliver Interventions

  • Provide routine intervention, as part of the multi-disciplinary/ transdisciplinary team to support individuals with common behavioural concerns  

  • Participate in routine care-planning, progress monitoring, and meetings as part of the multi-disciplinary team 

  • Working with SSA staff, allied health professionals and caregivers to better support needs through professional consultation and case discussions in adapting existing interventions for application in local context based on research and trends 

3. Build stakeholder relationships or capacity 

  • Co-implement programmes and interventions catered to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs, inclusive of Positive Behaviour Support and other systemic supports 

  • Support training to help equip staff and caregivers in relevant areas for supporting clients in SSA and community settings 

  • Provide evidence-based input for program/policy improvements 

4. Uplift professional practice in psychology

  • Provide peer consultation to other allied health professionals 

  • Assist in the delivery of training (clinical seminars, clinical workshops) for psychologists and/or other professionals in the social service sector  

  • Participate, facilitate and present in CPH professional development platforms for knowledge-sharing and enhancement of professional skills 

  • Assist in development of quality improvement projects to improve client care and services, to move beyond pure custodial care model  

5. Others

  • Provide administrative duties relevant to clinical practices and as required of the SSA 

  • Attend CPH meetings and events when necessary 

  • Prepare and submit monthly reports, i.e., monthly KPI tracking as required 

  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by reporting officer or Management 

7. Self-development

  • Attend CPH/SSA endorsed training/workshops/seminars so as to develop relevant knowledge and skills

  • Receive formal supervision from CPH’s approved supervisors as part of professional development

Requirements 

1.       Educational qualifications and work experience  

  • (For Psychologist position) A recognised masters’ degree in Applied Psychology (e.g., Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Educational Psychology) from an accredited university. The programme must include a supervised practicum and supervised training in psychological assessments 

  • (For Psychologist position) Be eligible for registration with the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS) (Full Membership) and Singapore register of Psychologists (SRP)  

  • (For Associate Psychologist position) Minimum of Honours degree in Psychology  

2.       Experience  

  • Relevant experience working with either children or adults with developmental disabilities and/ or providing psychological services in similar settings (i.e., SPED, social services sector) will be an advantage  

  • Experience in lesson-planning and curriculum development, administering psychoeducational assessment tools and providing intervention based on Positive Behaviour Support is preferable.  

 3.       Other qualities   

  • Self-motivated with strong oral and written communication skills 

  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in multi-disciplinary team 

  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills 

  • Fluency in local languages  


Psychologist – EIPIC 

You will be deployed to a SSA for 4 days a week to provide innovative and quality psychological care to our clients and their families in the Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Children (EIPIC). Working in a multi-disciplinary setting, you will also conduct psychoeducational programmes and training for other professionals, so as to enable quality care and services. 

Responsibilities 

1. Conduct Psychological Assessments

  • Coordinate and conduct formal and informal psychological assessments, including standardised tests e.g., school placement assessments (SPAs)

  • Prepare assessment reports for routine cases

  • Conduct intake assessment to determine child’s strengths and needs, and/or regular assessments for progress monitoring

2. Deliver Interventions

  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team comprising teachers and other professionals such as social workers and speech therapists to co-develop and implement evidence-based and data-driven intervention plans (such as emotional and behaviour management, and social skills training), as well as to conduct home visits when necessary

3. Deliver psychological programmes and services. This may include:

  • Guiding staff and parents/caregivers in implementing emotional, learning and behavioural evidence-based interventions, customised to the needs of individual child

  • Maintaining timely and accurate records of students and to maintain regular contact with the child’s family when required

  • Conducting transitional planning from one educational setting to another

  • Providing intervention for caregivers, where needed

4. Building stakeholder relationships or capacity

  • Provide evidence-based input for program/policy improvements

  • Provide consultation for parents, teachers, caregivers and other stakeholders so as to improve child outcome as well as enhance the child’s learning and development

  • Assist in the delivery of training programmes as part of continuing professional development

  • Deliver psychoeducation programmes for staff and caregivers

  • Identify areas of improvement in models of client care and services based on evidence-based practices

  • Perform data collection and analysis to support research e.g., programme evaluation for new initiatives/programs introduced in the SSA

  • Provide guidance to peers and interns

  • Attain SRP status or its equivalent (within first two years of appointment as Psychologist)

  • Assist in the delivery of training (clinical seminars, clinical workshops) for psychologists and/or other professionals in the social service sector

  • Present, facilitate and participate in CPH professional development platforms for knowledge-sharing and to hone clinical skills

6. Administrative duties

  • Attend and assist with group meetings, chair and/or present at the meetings when necessary

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of SSA activities as assigned

  • Attend CPH meetings and events when necessary

  • Prepare and submit reports e.g., monthly KPI tracking as required

  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by Reporting Officer or Management for the SSA/CPH

7. Self-development

Psychologist, Senior Psychologist – Strengthening Families 

As part of the Strengthening Families Programme at Family Service Center (FAM@FSC), we are looking for psychologists to provide psychological services to families in distress. The FAM@FSC programme aims to support families and couples who face challenges in their relationships, thereby impacting their family and personal well-being. There are 11 FAM@FSC regional centres and you will be part of a team of psychologists who will provide psychological services to these centres. The work will also include aiding the Court in their assessment of divorced families.

Responsibilities 

  1. Provide psychological assessment and therapy to individuals, both children and adults, who may be experiencing emotional distress and with mental health concerns arising from marital, divorce, parenting or family issues.   

  2. Provide psychological assessment and therapy to help couples, families and individuals to resolve conflict and improve their interpersonal and coparenting relationships.  

  3. Provide assessment and therapy to children and adolescents with emotional and behavioural needs.  

  4. Consult, implement and support programme evaluate efforts.  

  5. Perform administrative duties relevant to clinical practice. 

Requirements

  • (Preferred) 3 years of relevant experience working with families 

  • (Preferred) Familiarity or prior working experience in the social services sector
